150 years ago, comparative linguist, philologist, ethnographer, and translator, Renward Brandstetter, was born. His works range from books, articles and monographs — all of which were written in German. To celebrate his amazing body of work that include studies on folkores, and Austronesian languages, Komunitas Salihara, in collaboration with the Swiss Embassy, will host a book talk on the recently published A World of Words: Revisiting the Work of Renward Brandstetter (1860-1942) on Lucerne and Austronesia. The book consists of the writings of 10 writers — including Juerg Schneider and Robert Blust — who analyzed Brandstetter’s expertise.
