Portraits and Short Stories

by Febrina Anindita

In two different episodes, Portraits and short stories allow us an intimate glimpse into male relationships.

The first part portrays the bond between brothers. Four men research what family ties and growing up mean to them in a coming-of-age story where youthful bravado alternates with moments of vulnerability.

The second part focuses on the friendship of two men zooming in on their mutual trust and understanding but also allowing the audience to feel the rivalry that hides underneath.
With Portaits and short stories choreographer Pia Meuthen weaves dance and circus into a poignant visual story. The performance is carried by the personality of her charismatic performers; an international cast of dancers and acrobats with varying ages and backgrounds.
