It’s almost impossible to leave Lockin Out Records out of the equation.

by Ken Jenie

Whenever one’s talking about contemporary American hardcore, It’s almost impossible to leave Lockin Out Records out of the equation. In times where people thought there’d be no more straight edge bands from Boston, Mental happened. Picking up where bands like Ten Yard Fight and In My Eyes have left, Greg, the lead singer of Mental, started Lockin Out & represented a whole new era of Boston hardcore under their flag.

The influence of Lockin Out records in American soil is inevitably important, some of their earlier releases are even considered classic. We all know that it’s not an easy task to capture hardcore/punk aggression from the old days, but what they’ve done, is capable of creating new legacy for generations to come.
