A Swedish family is on a ski holiday in the French Alps. During lunch they watch an avalanche coming down. People flee in all directions. Mother Ebba calls for her husband Thomas, while she tries to protect her children. Tomas, however, has run for his life…

The anticipated disaster failed to occur, but his questionable decision will shake their marriage to its core and leaves Tomas struggling to reclaim his role as family patriarch.
