Women of Letters

by Ken Jenie

In the world today, where people mostly text (SMS) or e-mail the one they need to reach out to, there is a special charm in a carefully composed letter.

Two Australian writers, Marieke Hardy (writer, columnist, broadcaster, scriptwriter) and Michaela McGuire (journalist, writer), hold Women of Letters literary evenings in Australia (womenofletters.com.au). This time, they hold their program at Komunitas Salihara.

The program will begin with a writing workshop with Laura Jean McKay (writer of Holiday in Cambodia, recipient of Alan Marshall Short Story Award, Australia).

The audience will be invited to write letters. Pen, paper, and postage stamps will be provided. The letters then will be collected , the jury will select the best letters to be read out.
