Bali Arts Festival 2013 this year carries the theme of “Taksu” , meaning Inspiration or Charisma, with main focus on traditional art forms. Each year, the Bali Arts Festival features the enthralling classical dances of the island, such as the legong, gambuh, kecak, barong, baris, the mask dance and the like, on which contemporary choreographies have been created, while old village dances and activities are also revived. Over the years, the whole range of classical Balinese epics and folk stories – such as the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Sutasoma, Panji – have thus been turned into “colossal Dance dramas”  known as  Sendratari.
